Show and Tell Video Project

Does your congregation have an encouraging story to tell others? Why not show it in a short video? We all like to share good news and we all like to learn of new initiatives that may help us engage with our communities, so what better than encouraging you to "show and tell"?

Mission & Discipleship is looking for short video stories that are informative, imaginative and inspiring. Those that meet that criteria will be shared with the wider church on this website and the very best entry will win a prize. You may have a great story to tell, but feel a lack of video skills. Do not worry, as we will accept videos recorded on tablets or smartphones and we are not necessarily looking for clever camera angles or slick editing - just good information, imagination and inspiration!

So how do you enter?

Simply go and produce a video that is around three minutes in length (three and a half minutes maximum) that highlights a story of how you've engaged with your local community. Try to avoid too many interviews, as viewers want to see as much detail of the story as possible, rather than lengthy clips of "talking heads". Remember that a picture can be worth a thousand words! Though we're not going to be too fussy over the quality of production, there are some commonly made mistakes to avoid and so to help you, please see our amusing clip here that demonstrates some of the things NOT to do.

Please send a DVD of your video to:

Rob Rawson,
Mission & Discipleship,
121 George Street,
Edinburgh EH2 4YN

by September 29th at the latest.

Please ensure you enclose the name of your congregation, a brief note of its story and a name and address so we can return the DVD.
